A Historical New Thing On The Way
Whoo hoo! Miki has completed her newest book with her co-author Timothy Perico. It’s call A Dark Night at the Opera House.
She can hardly wait to share but has to wait…eeeek! They are in the process of finding a literary agent for the work. However, we can say that A Dark Night at the Opera House is a historical fiction from the Civil War period. It puts a twist on tropes typically found in stories set during the Civil War era; unlike novels mostly focused on the cruelty, violence, and injustice associated with slavery, this novel explores the lives, loves, and conflicting views of Confederate soldiers and the women they left at home.
The authors have written this unusual story for adult readers on both sides of the political spectrum. Though it may spark some controversy that could be good for marketing purposes, their goal is to stimulate discussion—and to provide hope and healing for a country still suffering from social unrest and inequality. In that sense this story is timely, due to the current historical reckoning taking place inspired by cries for reparation and reform. The novel is well-researched, professionally edited, and co-authored with a man who has connections to the Civil War. Most of the world views the war through simple black and white terms, but as is the case with every epic era, there are nuances. Their novel presents the various reasons (not just the most talked about one) that the Civil War took place.
As soon as they find representation and a publisher we will let you know and celebrate big time in our group on Facebook!
